SPECIAL SAUCE: OUR RECIPE FOR RAVING FANS

Jul 9 3 minutes read

As the days grow longer and the temperatures rise, July is an ideal time to give your home some much-needed care. A little upkeep today can save you from major problems down the road and keep your house a warm, appealing retreat. Taking the time to accomplish these things will not only keep your home running well, but will also help you enjoy your summer more. Maintain a proactive maintenance schedule, and your home will thank you! Here's your July home maintenance checklist:

Air Conditioning Check-Up

Ensure your air conditioning system is running efficiently. Clean or replace the filters and consider scheduling a professional tune-up. This will help you stay cool and keep energy costs down.

Inspect for Pests

The summer heat can drive pests indoors. Look for signs of infestations, such as ants, termites, or rodents. Seal any cracks and consider professional pest control if needed.

Deck Maintenance

Summer is the time to enjoy your outdoor spaces. Clean your deck thoroughly and apply a sealant to protect it from sun and rain damage. Check for loose boards or nails and make necessary repairs.

Roof and Gutter Inspection

Check your roof for any loose or damaged shingles that could lead to leaks. Clear out your gutters and downspouts to ensure they are free of debris and functioning properly, especially before any summer storms.

Garden and Lawn Care

Your garden and lawn need extra care in the heat. Regularly mow your lawn, water plants deeply but less frequently to encourage deep root growth, and keep an eye out for weeds. Mulching can help retain moisture and keep weeds at bay.

Window and Door Seals

Check the seals around your windows and doors to keep the cool air in and the hot air out. Reapply caulk or weather stripping if needed to improve energy efficiency.

Outdoor Lighting

Ensure all outdoor lighting is working correctly. Replace any burnt-out bulbs and consider adding solar lights to pathways and garden areas for enhanced safety and ambiance.

Grill Cleaning

If you love summer barbecues, make sure your grill is in top condition. Clean the grates, check the gas lines (if applicable), and ensure everything is functioning properly to avoid any cooking mishaps.
