March is one of the most exciting months in the Lowcountry. Warmer weather, blooming landscapes, and longer days make it the perfect time to explore local festivals, outdoor markets, music events, and cultural celebrations.
Whether you live in or are visiting Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Beaufort, or Savannah, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the season. Here are some of the top events happening across the region in March.
🍀 Hilton Head St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Hilton Head also joins the celebrations with the Hilton Head Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade, usually held mid-March.
The parade features festive floats, marching bands, and local organizations celebrating Irish heritage and community spirit.
It’s a fun and family-friendly alternative for those who want a smaller St. Patrick’s Day celebration compared to Savannah’s massive event.
🍷 Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival
Food and wine enthusiasts flock to the Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival, typically held during the last week of March.
This week-long celebration features wine tastings, chef showcases, educational seminars, and culinary events across multiple locations on the island.
It’s one of the region’s most anticipated food events and a favorite for both locals and visitors.
🎉 Harbour Town Spring Fest
Families visiting Hilton Head Island will enjoy the lively Harbour Town Spring Fest.
Held at Harbour Town, the event features live music, shopping, kids’ activities, and a festive atmosphere that captures the start of spring in the Lowcountry.
It’s a relaxed, family-friendly way to spend a weekend on the island.
🎉 St. Patrick’s Block Party
This community event features live music from the Horan Brothers Band and Chilly Willy Band, a food court, and a beer/wine garden. The event will be held on March 13 from 5:30–9:30 PM at Bluffton Oyster Factory Park.
🏃 Bluffton St. Patrick’s Day 5K
This event will take place on March 14 at 8:00 AM at Martin Family Park. This annual running event celebrates the holiday with high energy and strong community spirit.
🍀 Savannah’s Famous St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
One of the biggest highlights of the month is the legendary Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This historic event dates back to 1824 and has grown into one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the United States.
Each year, the celebration includes multiple events leading up to the big day, including the Greening of the Fountain in Forsyth Park and various cultural ceremonies. The parade itself takes place on March 17, featuring marching bands, elaborate floats, and thousands of spectators lining the streets of downtown Savannah.
It’s a can’t-miss experience and one of the most iconic traditions in the South.
🎶 Savannah Music Festival
Music lovers should mark their calendars for the Savannah Music Festival, running from March 25 through early April 2026.
This internationally recognized event brings world-class artists to Savannah for performances spanning jazz, classical, folk, and global music traditions. The festival has hosted thousands of musicians over the years and is considered one of the Southeast’s premier music events.
Concerts are held in intimate historic venues across downtown Savannah, creating a truly unique cultural experience.
