When:   March 9, 2019
Where:   Art League Academy
106 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928

We've all done it - scribbled mindlessly on scraps of paper, or on the edges of workbooks or on napkins at a restaurant. So what's a doodle or zentangle, and why are they important at all? Can they break open a portal to your creative juices? And can they become something more "worthy" like a finished drawing or the foundation for a painting or sculpture? This workshop will show you how to effectively doodle, noodle & zentangle! Students finish the day with a framed piece of abstract art. This workshop came about from Joan's own personal experience as a stalled artist. She was forced to put off working on her art for years due to responsibilities in the "real" world. However, once awarded the chance to start working on her art again, she was terrified and stuck. Doodling opened the door and Joan came pouring out. Since then Joan has painted over 100 canvases, has been featured in many shows and has been awarded multiple awards for her work.

Good Posture, Better Blood Flow, and Confidence. It’s easy to forget to stretch, says Shape Magazine. “It’s often overlooked because the results are not as visible as lifting weights and squatting—or so you thought. Stretching can lead to better posture, fewer aches and pains, greater confidence, and a cheerier outlook on life”. In this three part mobility series, you will cover the entire body from head to toe. Join one class for a targeted area or all three to cover the entire body. You will learn how to assess how your own body is moving so that you can find where your joint restrictions are and then teach you techniques for how to improve your mobility. Often times, people think at their main problem is tight muscles when in fact those muscles have maybe become more tight or problematic as a result of joints being stiff and not moving. Dr. Ashley Romine will help bring insight to your own body as well as the confidence and knowledge to make improvements for yourself so that you can move more freely, be stronger, and less prone to injury.
