Feeling like you could spend the rest of your life trying to clean and organize your home but never actually crossing all the items off your to-do list isn’t uncommon. A busy schedule translates to a shorter time to get our home as spotless and organized as we’d like, but it surely doesn’t mean we have to ignore the household “projects” we’re eager to get done. So whether you’re goal is to declutter your house in a hurry or just want to add some extra charm to your space, know that there’s always an easy way to tackle all those household tasks while saving yourself time along the way.

Here are nine easy home hacks that will help you get more done in a lesser amount of time– and will ultimately change your life!

Unclog those drains with coffee grounds

When your bathtub isn’t draining water as efficiently as it should after an at-home haircut, and your kitchen sink is holding water when it isn’t supposed to, your used coffee grounds offer an easy solution to your plumbing woes without having to go on a trip to the shops. Just mix your coffee grounds with some dish soap, add the concoction into your drain, and follow it up with a lengthy pour of boiling water, and you’re all set!

Remove small scratches on furniture with some toothpaste

Small scratches in the finishes of our furniture are inevitable. However, before you decide to spend hundreds of dollars to get these tiny flaws fixed, try using toothpaste to get those marks out first! Use a pea-sized amount of non-gel toothpaste and rub the scratch in a circular motion until it buffs out, then clean the remainder with a damp towel.

Hairdryer gets nasty crayon marks off the walls

We know it’s hard to keep your kids from using your white walls as their art canvas, but all hope isn’t lost! Just heat the offending portion of the wall with a hairdryer for a few seconds to soften the crayon wax and wipe any marks away with a soft cloth!

Vinegar keeps your microwave odor-free

Is your microwave smelling less than fresh? Enjoy a simple way of getting it clean and odor-free without the use of harsh chemicals! Simply place a bowl of vinegar in the microwave for five minutes and wipe the insides of the microwave afterward!

Use some mouthwash to give your toilet bowl a quick cleaning

If your toilet bowl is in dire need of a quick clean, but you don’t have enough time to grab another expensive and unnecessary cleaning product at the store, pour a capful of mouthwash into your toilet bowl, and let it sit for half an hour! Any grim will come off easily whenever you’re ready to scrub your bowl!

Alka-Seltzer tablets help clean stubborn stains on pans

If you’re getting tired of those stubborn dinner stains on your pan, then using Alka-Seltzer tabs is key! Fill up your pans with hot water and drop in an Alka-Seltzer tablet. Let it sit for around 15 minutes, and the mess should wipe off easily!

Use dish soap for your blender

Anyone who uses a blender knows how risky cleaning it can be! After all, it’s a pitcher of knives we’re talking about, so you can just hope that you don’t slice any of your fingers off in the process! Thankfully, there’s a safer and simpler way to clean your blender after making a smoothie or shake. Add a little dish soap to your machine, pour in two cups of warm water, and blend until that grime is a thing of the past.

Put old newspaper at the bottom of your trashbag to keep foul-smelling liquids from leaking

Better add some old newspaper at the bottom of your trash bag before you toss in another liquidy mess! By doing so, you’ll be able to catch and absorb leaky (and icky!) messes before they drip on you or your floors come trash day!

Fix tiny holes in a window screen with some clear nail polish

Unfortunately, a hole in your screen door or window renders the whole thing useless– until you’ve got your hands on some clear nail polish! Clear nail polish provides a simple solution for those small tears– simply add a swipe of clear nail polish where there’s a rip, and it’ll be as good as new in minutes.
