Looking forward to one of the biggest sporting events in the country? Super Bowl Sunday is a wonderful way to get family and friends together, even if you're not a sports enthusiast, or if you're rooting for different teams. Check out our tips to make sure to get your home in sporting shape!

Clean Up Your House

It's always more fun if your house is in a decent condition for your guests. After all, who wants to welcome anyone into their messy home, no matter how close the relationship might be? Getting the entire household involved in cleaning up can make things a breeze, and if you have small kids, you can even turn it into a game! Start with the TV room, and make sure not to miss the kitchen and bathrooms! If you wouldn't have time to clean up the whole house, just make sure to close the doors where you don't want guests to wander in and see the clutter.

Check Your Tech

Set aside a time this week to thoroughly test your equipment and sound system/ You wouldn't want to be settling down at game time and discovering your TV isn't working! While you're at it, take the time to clean your TV and speakers as well. The last thing you want is a smudgy screen blocking anyone's view, or  dirt in your speakers ruining sound quality. If possible, have a backup plan in case of unexpected issues. It could be another TV in the next room, or a nearby bar streaming the broadcast.

Party Setup

After making sure your house is clean and your equipment is all good, it's time to do a little pre-party setup. Prepare tables in or near the room where you'll be watching, and keep in mind where people will stand to prevent anyone from blocking the view if someone wants to grab a snack. Cover the tables with easy to clean tablecloths, and place several garbage bags somewhere close to the table to remind everyone to keep it neat. Also have enough chairs in the main room so that everyone can be seated comfortably, even if its most likely they'll be on the edge of their seats! Make sure everyone attending can be made comfortable and you will be the perfect party host.

Plan Your Platters

Determine ahead of time how you would plan the party food. Is it going to be potluck, or will you be the one doing all the cooking? If you're going potluck you need to plan which food your friends will bring or make to ensure variety. Also, take note that the more food that can be cooked in advance, the better. You wouldn't want to miss critical moments in the game because you're stuck in the kitchen! Choose simple and easy recipes, and have snacks and finger foods readily available.

Go the Extra Mile

Make your party a little extra special by putting up football-themed displays. Most party stores have supplies for Super Bowl parties, so you can go for a few decorations. You could also do a simple DIY, like making a coaster using construction paper. You can even make themed snacks!
